Iṣṭagoṣṭhī Motto:

Let our hearts be one in seva- clear in mind, responsible and kind.

Iṣṭagoṣṭhī Meeting Code of Conduct

We will be implementing some new concepts with the goal of smoother, more effective meetings.

To support this, please keep the following in mind when it is your turn to speak:

1. Be specific and clear
Share concrete suggestions—not general statements. Include relevant details such as what exactly needs improvement, possible solutions, and practical considerations (cost, sourcing, feasibility).

2. Take ownership
If you are proposing something, please also be prepared to take responsibility (or suggest who will) for implementing and maintaining it.

3. Check alignment first
Before bringing a topic to the group, connect with the person already responsible for that area to understand the current system and ensure alignment.

4. Avoid duplication
Be mindful that some systems and efforts are already in place. Take time to understand what is already being done before proposing changes.

5. Bring relevant topics to the group
The Istagoshti is meant for meaningful, shared discussion. Highly specific or technical matters should be discussed directly with the relevant individuals rather than the full group.

6. Communicate in a solution-oriented way
Focus on constructive suggestions rather than general complaints. The intention is to improve—not to criticize.

7. Respect coordination channels
Avoid bypassing existing coordination structures. This helps maintain clarity, trust, and smooth functioning.

8. Be mindful of impact on others
Consider how your proposal affects workload, coordination, and the overall system—not just the idea itself.

The Gunas of Nature

Sattva. Rajas. Tamas.

Your communication style isn’t random—it’s powered by three natural forces, gunas, that influence our mind and behavior.

  • Sattva brings peace. When communicating, it manifests as calm, clarity, attunement, and empathy.
  • Rajas brings passion. When communicating, it fuels intensity, urgency, and the tendency to dominate or over-explain.
  • Tamas brings passivity. When communicating, it causes one to shut down, resist, create confused communication, or withdraw.

SO, WHAT'S YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE?

THE TIMID TAMAS

The Timid Tamas communicator is gentle, slow-moving, and often deeply self-protective.

They may speak hesitantly, drift into vague or repetitive statements, or avoid articulating their thoughts altogether—especially when they are feeling emotionally vulnerable. Their communication style often reflects internal confusion, emotional fog, or a fear of being misunderstood. This leaves those on the receiving end of their communication feeling disconnected, confused, and sometimes annoyed.

THE RAMBLING RAJAS

The Rambling Rajas communicator is passionate, expressive, and quick to engage.

They bring energy, warmth, and emotional color to conversations, often speaking with enthusiasm and urgency. Their openness can make them relatable and dynamic—but they also tend to over-explain, share too much too fast, or dominate conversations with dramatic detail. In their drive to connect or be understood, they may cross emotional boundaries or overwhelm others without realizing it.
